Before you start the course, take a few minutes to jot down what you know about China and Chinese. To help you, see if you can answer some of these questions (but you should also include anything else you know): How big is China, both in terms of size and population? Where is it? What was invented in China? What form of government does China have? What form did it have before the current one? Can you name a recent Chinese government figure? Can you name a famous Chinese book? What religion(s) do the Chinese follow? Can you name one or more important geographical features of China? What is special about Chinese? How many Chinese characters are there? How many do you need to learn? Are characters pictures of things? Is Chinese a 'difficult' language?
Write your own response before reading others. To add your responses, click on the Edit button above, type, then hit Save. There's a horizontal line you can insert after your writing to separate it. It's the icon just to the left of the Link icon above. Be careful not to disturb what others have written. If you cannot write your response, you may record it and upload the mp3 file here.
